The Results
For our final capstone project, we were assigned to a team consisting of three members: Evelyn Mena, Montse Soto, and myself. Our main goal was to develop a visual identity and brand guidelines for 808 Donuts, a new business set to open its first location at Towson Town Center later this year. To ensure that we were efficient with our workflow, our team divided the tasks and assigned specific roles. I took on the roles of researcher, collaborative prototype designer, and product designer.
In this role, I was responsible for setting up and inputting designs onto prototypes, creating illustrations and patterns, and applying our designs to mockups that would effectively showcase our final iterations. These works were created as part of a Seminar course at the University of Baltimore in Spring 2023.

The Process
During the development phase, illustrations and patterns played a key role in introducing a playful and inviting atmosphere for the brand. The illustrations were centered around the four seasons: Summer (Beach Fun), Fall (Falling Mochi), Winter (Mochi Wreath), and Spring (Cherry Blossom). The idea for the seasonal was for the ideas to be switching during specific times of the year. The patterns featured our main mascot, Bob (a rice grain), along with his family in the Cherry Blossom design, as well as in the tricolor and quad-color mochi patterns. We aimed to incorporate the mochi in a way that was both visually engaging and unique, ensuring the design remained fresh and distinctive to the viewer.
