The Results
The final visual is separated into two different visuals: The County as a whole and Small Sections within the County. The first half incorporates a semi-detailed MoCo showing a range of difference starting with the distance range between the libraries and household incomes fluctuations in the county. The second half focuses on six specific libraries: Connie Morella, Chevy Chase, Silver Spring, Long Branch, Kensington, and Wheaton. All these libraries are located within miles of each other, with plenty of access to transportation, and located in a mixture of household income areas. This visualization was created for Creative Methodologies at the University of Baltimore, Spring 2022.
The Process
Households in MoCo (left) and Household Income in MoCo (Right)
Accessibility to MoCo (Montgomery County) Libraries was created as a data visualization project. In this data visualization, it was meant to explain how Accessibility to MoCo Libraries differed based on population and household income. From personal experience, by living in the county, there is always a library in my surrounding area within a 5 mile radius that are accessible and offer a variety of materials.
